ESYO 2020-21 Program Policies and Procedures

Thank you for your interest in joining our orchestras! 2020-21 will be our 87th Season – and it will be a season like no other! Your safety is our number one concern, and we will follow the guidelines of our governor and the school districts by meeting online in the fall. We look forward to resuming in-person rehearsals as soon as it is safe to do so.

Despite the unusual circumstances, we have a unique and valuable musical experience waiting for you! We have designed a program of online rehearsals and performances, including sectionals with professional coaches, studio classes, visiting artists, workshops, and educational extras. Students will learn recording techniques, and work toward online concerts that will showcase your accomplishments throughout the year. There will continue to be outreach opportunities for sharing video performances throughout the community. It all adds up to an exciting, educational, and rewarding season of music-making!

Registration in any ESYO program is a year-long commitment. If unavoidable situations arise, such as serious illness in the family or relocation due to a parent’s job, we will consider refunds for the remainder of the season on a case-by-case basis. Students who terminate their membership for any other reason will still be responsible for paying full tuition for the season. Previous accounts that are delinquent must be paid in full with this year’s registration.

ESYO works closely in collaboration with local schools to support a well-rounded musical experience. We appreciate and value the daily instruction and rehearsal offered in musical ensembles, which provides a wealth of benefits for student musicians. We strongly encourage all ESYO musicians to be enrolled in their school music program if one is available. If not, we ask that you provide us with the conflict on your registration form.

Consistent attendance and practice are critical to the sound and success of the orchestra. If a student will be absent or late, you must call or text your registrar, NOT the office. Excused absences are accepted for illness or family emergencies, and students may only be excused by a parent or guardian. Absence without contacting the registrar is considered unexcused. It will be up to the conductor to determine if a student has missed too many rehearsals to participate in that concert set.

ESYO reserves the right to modify or cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment, instrumentation or extenuating circumstances. Information about cancellations will be announced at rehearsals and posted on our website and calendar.
