Youth Symphony Conductor Change

ESYO bids a fond farewell to Jason Duckles, our fabulous Youth Symphony conductor for the past five and a half years, as he and his family will move to Europe this month. We will greatly miss his dedication, passion and amazing musicianship, and wish him well in this new chapter of his life. We appreciate all he has done for this organization, this community, and youth music education in general. Most importantly, we cannot thank him enough for how he has inspired and encouraged the many young musicians who were lucky enough to learn, laugh, and perform under his baton.

We are fortunate to have an excellent interim conductor to lead YS through the rest of the season. Dr. David Jacobs, Director of Orchestral Studies at the UO, will take over rehearsals beginning Monday, Jan 25, 2016. David has substituted with YS before and has many years of experience working with young musicians. We are grateful to have someone of his caliber and enthusiasm joining the ESYO family!
